"i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart) i am never without it (anywhere i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)"
How many proverbs and idioms of "home" are there? "Home is where you lay your head," or "you can't go home again," or even more famously, "there's no place like home".
I feel like most of us feel lost sometimes and I feel like more often than we admit we face hurdles and challenges that make us feel like the rug was moved out from under us. It can be hard for anyone at any phase or station of their life to feel like they can put down roots somewhere. It's very easy to give into restlessness and unease. Given today's landscape of terror and displacement, the idea of "home" can be impossible.
There are a lucky few people who reside within the sanctuary of my heart and who will always have a place there no matter how far they wander or however restless they feel. For them, if they choose to seek it, my heart can be a home. So too, there is another whose heart houses my own heart. The thing about love is, it is its own force of nature. If its true love, it does not confine itself to the weaknesses or ills of our faults, but adheres to the culpability and regeneration that comes from having faith in humanity. Love does not choose who or how, I've learned. It can surprise you, life can surprise you.
Home, as they say, is where the heart is.
