If at first you don’t succeed try, try, again.
It is hard to believe that successful people such as Oprah Winfrey and Walt Disney were fired from their jobs. They had the resilience to bounce back, find new employment, and have a large influence on society. Sometimes to be truly successful you have to work your way up from the bottom to the top and overcome all of the unexpected roadblocks along the way.
Rachel Gillett who writes for inc.com cited The Wisdom of Oz stating that Walt Disney was fired from his animation job at the Kansas City Star newspaper because his editor believed that he not only lacked imagination but also good ideas. This is so hard to take in because Disney is someone that most people view as the source of many imaginative stories. The point is that Disney never gave up and was able to find a way to achieve his dreams.
Oprah Winfrey fought the odds pinned against her. She was let go from her position at Baltimore WJZ-TV for becoming too emotionally attached to her stories. After being fired, another opportunity landed in her lap, a role on a daytime TV show called People Are Talking. When one door closer another door opens. The show turned out to be a success. Soon after she took a chance and created The Oprah Winfrey Show. Now she is a global figure.
Never give up on your journey. Overcome your fears. Keep your goals front and center.
