According to a new report released on November 28th, 2017 by the McKinsey Global Institute, 75 million to 375 million jobs may become automative within the next 15 years, affecting nearly 15% of the global workforce.
According to CNN Money, the technological changes are similar to what happened during the 1980s and the PC boom:
"Despite the looming challenges, the report revealed how workers can move forward. While the introduction of the personal computer in the 1980s eliminated some jobs, it created many more roles. Workers who are willing to develop new skills should be able to find new jobs." (CNN Money, November 29th, 2017)
According to LinkedIn:
"By 2030, 75 million to 375 million workers will change occupation categories while another 400 to 800 million could be displaced by automation and will be required to find new jobs entirely. While new jobs will be created during that same period, the big question is if workers will have the necessary skills to transition into these new roles effectively. Are our education and training programs keeping pace with changes in the workforce? Join the conversation."
