Most people were very glad to say good bye to 2016 and hello to 2017. I understand that. I also believe that inside every dark cloud there is a silver lining. It is important for me to recognize, acknowledge and say thank you for all the gifts that I have received. I find when I focus my attention on gratitude, more good things happen.
Admittedly this is a little late in posting. It was a crazy, busy end of the year. I've been thinking about it for a while.
As 2016 ends, I am grateful for...
...my brown eyed daughter from a different mother. Vero came to live with Kate and me in 2007 as a Rotary Exchange student from Puebla, Mexico. She came into our lives and we have become a family. She was here unexpectedly for a week to visit. What a joy!
...do-over.me is closing in on three years and is still here. We are growing. We now have a full board and are partnering with other local social service agencies. Our goal is to serve 60 people this year! 60 people whose lives have been improved with support from do-over.me. That's impact!
...checking the Pro Football Hall of Fame off my bucket list. My friend, Steve accompanied me to Canton for a long weekend in early May. The trip was wonderfully relaxing. The HOF was beyond belief. It was everything I imagined and more. I can't wait to go again.
...my new knee. Although my surgery was December 17, 2015, physical therapy consumed a good portion of the beginning of the year. Thanks to my surgeon and his staff, the hospital staff, the physical therapists, my friends who helped with groceries, cooking, driving and taking Bella out and most of all Kate who was there in the very beginning and through to the end. I'm better than ever now!
...the election is over. Whether you are happy or sad or scared with the outcome, America is getting a do-over. Let's all remember that change is tough, even change that we seek.
...old friends and new friends. I am so blessed to have so many very special relationships with individuals who bring joy to my life.
...the clients of do-over.me who daily put their trust in us as shoulder to shoulder we support them in living out their dreams. You give me hope every day.
...Kate and Trevor...well there are no words for the love that I feel for the two of you. Love. And so much respect as you chart the course of your life together. I am so glad that you continue each day to share it with me.
2016 blessed me with much abundance. I bet it blessed you too!
