Yes, a handwritten thank you note is old school.
But it is an old school tradition that is a tradition for good reason.
Let’s face it, all of us, from the time we were little kids getting mail from grandma, enjoy receiving mail. It’s no different with thank you notes. Receiving a handwritten thank you note in today’s electronic era is unusual and thus stands out. Two really good reasons for taking the time to write a personal, thank you to each and every person that you interview with.
And don’t forget the recruiter. They are the gatekeepers. They may not have the ability to hire, but they definitely have the ability to screen you out. You want them to keep saying “yes” when your name is mentioned.
