"Maybe stories are just data with a soul. And maybe I’m just a storyteller.” Brene Brown
As Brown suggests, we’re all storytellers. In a business presentation, you’re telling the story behind your campaign, company, or product. In a job interview, you’re telling the story behind your personal brand. In a marketing pitch, you’re telling the story about your idea. When you write your memoirs, you're telling the story of who you are and how you lived your life.
Your story is as unique as you are. It has highs and lows, triumphs and failures. It has everyday moments that are pure magic and others that are well, just everyday moments. It is interesting and there is none like it. When sharing your story, you share a part of yourself. You show your humanity. It allows you to build rapport and create a connection with someone else. That connection is what gets you remembered. As Brown says, "Data won’t get you standing ovation; stories will. Stories inform, illuminate, and inspire. Tell more of them."
We're here to help. Learning how to tell an effective story is a skill that can be learned. We're here to support you in that learning. Regardless of your personal motivation, the reason why you want to learn to be a good storyteller, the process is the same...practice. Come join us for this class on Monday, October 26 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Please register in advance. This class is free. A donation of $5 is requested to help cover costs.
